UDYAM REGISTRATION IN INDIA

Udyam Registration Online – MSME Registration Made Simple

Udyam Registration is the government registration process through which eligible enterprises can obtain recognition as Micro, Small or Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India.

For entrepreneurs and businesses, obtaining an Udyam Registration Certificate can be an important step toward formalising their enterprise and accessing applicable government schemes, facilities and MSME-related benefits, subject to eligibility and the conditions of individual schemes.

The official Udyam Registration system is online, paperless and based on self-declaration, and the Government states that there is no fee for filing Udyam Registration.

Indian Institute of Legal English (IILE) provides professional assistance and guidance to entrepreneurs who need help understanding the Udyam Registration process, eligibility, information requirements and certificate-related formalities.

Register Smart. Grow Strong. Build Your MSME Identity.

WHAT IS UDYAM REGISTRATION?

Udyam Registration is the official MSME registration system introduced by the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of India.

Once an eligible enterprise completes the registration process, it receives a permanent Udyam Registration Number and an online Udyam Registration Certificate. The certificate includes a dynamic QR code through which enterprise information can be accessed on the Udyam portal.

Unlike the earlier Udyog Aadhaar system, eligible enterprises now use the Udyam Registration framework.

Why Udyam Registration Matters

Udyam Registration can help eligible businesses:

  • Formalise their MSME identity
  • Obtain an Udyam Registration Number
  • Receive an online Udyam Registration Certificate
  • Access applicable MSME-related government schemes
  • Participate in certain procurement and marketplace opportunities, subject to applicable rules
  • Improve documentation and business formalisation
  • Access applicable MSME-related financial and support initiatives

Your Business. Your Identity. Your Udyam Registration.

UDYAM REGISTRATION – MSME CLASSIFICATION

The classification of an enterprise as Micro, Small or Medium is based on investment in plant and machinery or equipment and annual turnover.

The revised classification applicable from 1 April 2025 is:

MSME CategoryInvestment LimitTurnover LimitMicro Enterprise | Up to ₹2.5 Crore | Up to ₹10 Crore
Small Enterprise | Up to ₹25 Crore | Up to ₹100 Crore

Micro, Small or Medium – Know Where Your Business Stands

The classification is determined according to the applicable government rules and the relevant investment and turnover data.

Businesses should ensure that the information furnished during registration is accurate and updated as required.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR UDYAM REGISTRATION?
